Internet Special - About Uncirculated Peace Dollars
The Peace Dollar is a silver United States dollar coin minted from 1921 to 1928, then again in 1934 and 1935. Proposals called for a coin to commemorate the end of World War I that would showcase the ideals of democracy, liberty, prosperity, and honor.
The coin was designed by Anthony de Francisci who’s wife, Teresa, was used as the model. It was named the Peace Dollar because the word PEACE appears on the coin's reverse. It contains 0.77344 net ounces of silver.
The Pitman Act of 1918 called for the melting of 280,000,000 Morgan Dollars held in banks which were turned into bullion and Peace Dollars.
We offer mixed dates from 1922-1925 in four grade levels: Cull, Circulated VF-XF, AU, and BU.
